Mark New: Web Designer

I have been fortunate to be able to re-invent myself, my life and my work — a process that seems to keep on going, take me in different directions and open up new possibilities. My friends call me Markus.

My initial foray into the realm of computer work was "New Photographix." I started out thinking that I would be most interested in digital photography and providing digital services. Along the way, I picked up a few web clients until the photography angle turned into a mere supportive adjuct to being a web designer.

As my web design work increased, I also became aware of the huge need that was out there in helping people to use their computers. My clients would tell me about problems they were having with software or navigating through their files. After a few of them hired me to do tech or software support, I decided to offer my services as an Apple Consultant since I had been using Macs since they came out in 1984.

As my work progressed as an Apple Consultant, my clients began asking for tutoring in the use of applications. Some wanted to learn how to update their websites on their own while others wanted to increase their ability to manage projects that they faced at work or the personal lives.

In November 2007 I began working as a per diem web production specialist at the Channing Bete Company in South Deerfield, MA and am now Senior Web Production Specialist. This work has increased my capacity to serve my clients well since new skills are learned on a regular basis.

Currently, I'm phasing out the Apple Consulting and Mentoring aspects of my business due to time limitations.
